Inspired by cinematic composer-guitarists Frantz Casseus, Marc Ribot, and John Fahey, Romance Language presents mood-setting soundtracks for solo acoustic guitar, environmental ambience, and overheard conversations in Italian, Spanish, and French, derived from classic films by Fellini, Almodovar, and Godard.

BIO
Vagabond Empire singer-songwriter Sam Prestianni has been watching films in languages he can't speak for decades. He's drawn to the music of dialogue, the tonal color of words, and the rhythm and cadences of dramatic phrasing. He's also an environmental archivist, recording sounds of the street and natural world since his first tour of Italy in 1999. An improviser and soundtrack composer, he has contributed to independent films and modern dance performances. He partnered with new-music clarinetist Elizabeth Gray on the instrumental album, Perfection Is Overrated. Romance Language will also soon feature the poetry of Boccaccio, Dante, Cervantes, Lorca, Baudelaire, and Rimbaud.
